Jack - O – Lantern

Can you imagine any Halloween without the customary Jack -O- Lantern. Take a nice healthy pumpkin and carefully carve it. To make things easier first take a stencil and mark the portions properly, Dee seed and scoop out the insides. Make sure that you handle it gently so that the pumpkin doesn't go crooked or out of shape. Another interesting feature of Jack-o-lanterns is that you can carve them to express different emotions. It can be happy, funny or even down right scary or spooky. Once you have carved them you can either place electric lights or lighted candles. Electric lights will help preserve the pumpkin longer than candles. But if you insist on using candles using scented ones like cinnamon would add to ambience of your Halloween night.

Candles

The use of candles helps to give it that eerie and dark touch. The décor of the place would really benefit if you used variety of different candles in your place and make sure you use the candles in such way that the place is well lit but still there are patches of darkness all round to give it that perfect Halloween effect. Use of scented candles in different places will give it a nice touch. Also be careful about where you place the candles. Take care that you don't place them near curtains or other flammable materials. Another important precaution is to ensure that it is out of reach of guests so that their costumes don't catch fire if they are not looking.

Crepe Paper

Crepe paper is another big hit among Halloween parties where they are used to bring the Halloween colours to your party atmosphere.

Fake Blood

Fake Blood is like icing on the cake of a Halloween party. It gives it a spooky look and highly enjoyable feeling. You can make your fake blood or buy it from outside. Helps to add to your character that your playing.

Use of light and Shadows

The proper use of light and shadows will give your place the necessary look. Lights when strategically placed will give the place an almost haunted look. Also use several props like fake spider webs, bats, cats, coffins, tombstones etc which all need to be placed strategically which if done correctly will definitely evoke a lot of reactions that will be reminiscent of the spirit of Halloween.

Sound Effects

This is another key and important aspect of celebrating a great Halloween. Make sure you have placed an efficient sound system with speakers covering the length and breadth of the place. You have many cd's available in all music stores that feature sounds specially dedicated for a fiery Halloween. These Cd's will feature many creepy sounds such as lightning, screams, banging and creaking, animal sounds etc which will really help to evoke surprised and shocked emotions from the crowd.

Fog Machines

This may not be a practical option for all Halloween parties. However fog machines of today have become reasonably affordable and considering the number of people who are expected to attend a god machine would be cool tool.

Scarecrows

Scarecrows are fascinating objects for people to ogle at. That too in a Halloween party they will only further accentuate the décor. Set the atmosphere for your scarecrow by adding bales of hay, cornstalks, and Indian corn and he is definitely bound to find many admirers on a Halloween night.

Paint it Black

A black gothic kind of theme further adds to spookiness levels. You could also choose many black props and tableware. You could also mix and match with other colours like orange, purple and midnight blue.
